I’m always on the lookout for new knitting patterns. I also love to read knitting magazines but have never subscribed to one. I frequent the public library, however, my library only subscribes to a single knitting magazine. This week I discovered knitting magazines at my local used book store. I don’t know why I haven’t considered this source before. The book store had 5 different knitting magazines available. Each magazine had recent issues and also issues from the past 3-4 years. I immediately recognized some recent patterns I have seen and liked on the web. I loved being able to browse through these magazines and only select the issues with patterns or content that I liked. Best of all, the magazines were 50% off the listed price. Most of them were selling for $4. There are not too many places where I can purchase 4-5 patterns that I like for that price. In addition, many of the magazines have content about technique. I was able to select the magazines that had technique content that I was interested in. It was also fun to see how fashion, and knitting fashion in particular has changed over the past few years. I may still end up subscribing to a knitting magazine. However, now I’ve been able to compare several knitting magazines side by side and can select the one that is best for me. I’ve also discovered how to put my back issues to good use by reselling them to the book store.
